Projektā tiek izstrādātas metodes, lai novērtētu Latvijas upju un ezeru ekoloģisko kvalitāti, izmantojot fitoplanktona, makrofītu un bentisko bezmugurkaulnieku monitoringa datus. Iegūtās kvalitātes klašu skaitliskās robežvērtības tālāk tiek saskaņotas jeb interkalibrētas Eiropas mērogā.
Elaboration and intercalibration of methods for the assessment of the surface-water biological quality

The project is aimed at the elaboration of methods to assess water quality in Latvian lakes and rivers by using biological quality elements, such as phytoplankton,macrophytes, and benthic invertebrates. National boundary values of the ecological quality classes are intercalibrated according to the requirements of EU WFD.

Projekta gaitā novērtēts 60 Ventas un Lielupes upju baseinu apgabalu upju posmu ekoloģiskais stāvoklis pēc bioloģiskajiem, fizikāli-ķīmiskajiem un hidromorfoloģiskajiem kritērijiem. Salīdzinātas Latvijā un Lietuvā izmantotās ekoloģiskās kvalitātes vērtēšanas metodes.
2013 – 2014 – Cross boarder cooperation project between Latvia and Lithuania „Monitoring of Rivers and Environmental Survey of Farmers in the Lielupe and Venta River Basin Districts”.
Project leader: Dr. Simonas Valatka (Center for Environmental Policy, LT), project leaders from the Institute of Biology: Dr. Agnija Skuja and Dr. Ilga Kokorīte
Laboratory of Hydrobiology was responsible for monitoring and assessment of ecological status of 60 river stretches in Latvia. The project partners have exchanged experience, collected new monitoring data and tested biological indicators for assessment of ecological status of transboundary rivers.
